Glacier Canyon in Grindelwald

The canyon of the lower Grindelwald glacier is an impressive masterpiece of nature. The canyon, once covered by the glacier, is accessible through rock galleries and tunnels and is also used by climbers and canyon jumpers.

During the so-called Little Ice Age at the end of the Middle Ages, it reached as far as Grindelwald, at its furthest in the years 1600 and 1855.

Today, artificial footbridges lead from the Hotel Gletscherschlucht over the roaring meltwater one kilometer into the canyon, whose smooth walls rise more than 100 meters high on both sides.

At the entrance to the glacier canyon is the crystal museum with minerals from the region.
